"Make A Difference Day" Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others, is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its more than 580 carrier newspapers. Make A Difference Day is held in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation. The 15th Make A Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005. Make A Difference Day supporter Paul Newman donates 100 percent of after-tax income from Newman's Own to educational and charitable causes. Make A Difference Day began with a simple idea: Put your own cares on hold for one day to care for someone else. Now in its 15th year, the nation's largest single day of volunteering has hit its stride.
